LORAIN, Ohio — A northeast Ohio Christmas tradition is back after being canceled last year due to COVID-19.

What You Need To Know

  • The Holiday on Wheels Christmas Show originated at Brookpark Skateland
  • The Christmas show moved to Lorain in 2018 after a fire destroyed their previous location
  • After the Christmas show, many skaters will prepare for upcoming skating competitions

After a year-long break due to the pandemic, the Holiday on Wheels Christmas Show rolled into Lorain County.

“So, this is our 11th year. I’ve been in the show all 11 years,” said Emily Clark, a skater from Parma.

Since she was five years old, Clark has been skating and competing at venues worldwide, but she’s glad to be back in Lorain this season.

“We are ecstatic to be back. I mean, with everything that has been going on with the holidays, not being able to see anybody this year makes it special bringing everyone back together for the first time,” said Clark.

This year’s two-and-a-half-hour show features 20 different performances and some great individual skating, as well as some amazing costumes.

“We have people that have come all 11 years, and even if we have some repeat numbers, they laugh and cry and applaud just like it was their first time,” said the competitive skater.

This year’s Christmas show will be one Clark will never forget.

“So last night, after the show, a whole group of people came around and we wanted to take a huge picture and my boyfriend and I decided to take a picture together. He asked, of course, and on our second picture he got down on one knee and proposed and I said ‘yes,'” said Clark.

Clark will be very busy in the coming months as she returns to competitive skating and plans for her wedding.
