HAMILTON, Ohio — The West Side Little League All Stars team of Hamilton got a warm welcome Thursday night after making it to the Little League World Series championship game last week.

​​​The team ultimately lost in the championship game to Michigan 5-2, but that didn’t stop the city of Hamilton from celebrating the team all week. The team was welcomed home from the tournament on Monday, were celebrated at school with a red carpet on Tuesday, and capped off the week with the city-wide parade and ceremony.

The team and coaches loaded up in some classic cars and got a police escort through town to Marcum Park for a brief ceremony.

While the team lost in the championship game, the team and this city is still so proud of their team getting this far, especially on the national stage. 

Ohio became the first squad from its state to advance to the championship when it defeated South Dakota 5-2. It was the first time two teams from the same region have played for the LLWS title, a product of COVID-19 travel restrictions that kept international clubs away.
