LOVELAND, Ohio — Love is in the air this Valentine’s weekend, and what better place to celebrate than the City of Loveland, also known as the “Sweetheart of Ohio.”
This weekend, Feb. 10-12, Loveland invites loved ones of all ages to its second annual Hearts Afire Weekend.
“This year is going to be bigger and better,” said Krista Rose, Communication Coordinator for the City of Loveland. “We have more ice sculptures, more activities, and fun planned for all ages.”
Whistle Stop Clay Works is one of the many area businesses joining in on the fun. This year they will offer a special painting event and photo ops at the pottery wheel.
“I think this year’s event is going to be 10 times better than last year,” said Whistle Stop owner Bonnie McNett.
Throughout the year McNett offers a variety of classes ranging from six-week courses for those looking to master the art form to onetime events like clay and cocktails for those looking for a fun night out.
“We have a lot of fun in here,” said McNett. “Classes get to know each other. There is a lot of humor. It’s just wonderful.”
McNett describes the Whistle Stop studio as a labor of love and like many, she’s excited to welcome visitors to Loveland for Hearts Afire Weekend.
This year many past events will make a return, such as speed dating, and a puppy kissing booth. 2023 also ushers in new traditions, including a valentine’s pageant.
“We’re the sweetest place on earth,” said Rose. “This is where you want to celebrate Valentine’s day.”
