CINCINNATI — The Ladies Professional Golf Association announced Tuesday the Kroger Queen City Championship will be held next year from Sept. 5-11 at the Kenwood Country Club.

What You Need To Know

  • It’s the fourth national golf tournament to be held in Kenwood
  • The last time the LPGA Tour was in the area was in 1989
  • The organization said the purse for the event is $1.75 million

This will be the fourth national golf tournament held in Kenwood. Previous tournaments were 1933 United States Amateur, PGA Tour’s 1954 Western Open and 1963 Women’s United States Open.

The LPGA said the purse for the event will be $1.75 million. The organization paid out a record $76.45 million in purses for the year.

“The LPGA is thrilled to return to Cincinnati, or the Queen City as we are fondly referring to it in our tournament name,” LPGA Tour Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan said in a press release. “Cincinnati has a long connection to the LPGA and its players. We know this tournament will be a favorite stop on Tour and serve as an important example of the power of sports to inspire leaders and build community. We are truly grateful to Kroger and P&G for supporting the LPGA in such an impactful and meaningful way.”

The LPGA Tour was last in the area from 1979 to 1989 for the LPGA Championship, which is now the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

The Symetra Tour, which is LPGA’s developmental circuit, has competed in the area for more than a decade.

Officials are excited to return to the region to help give opportunities to women leaders.

“Building on long-standing commitments to empower diverse women leaders both within their organizations and in the broader community, Kroger, P&G and the LPGA will host a unique opportunity for more than 100 local women to enhance their leadership skills and expand their networks through multiple workshops,” the press release said.

The rest of the LPGA Tour’s schedule is normally announced at the end of the year.
