OHIO — Lt. Gov. Jon Husted kicked off the campaign season in Stark County with a tour of a family-owned business.

Husted toured the Coastal Pet Products facility in Alliance. It’s a company that makes dog and cat collars, leashes and harnesses and employs around 560 people.

Coastal Pet Products saw a significant increase in business during the pandemic with more people buying pets and spending time outdoors. 

Kim Stout, the president of Coastal Pet Products, ​said they were excited to host Husted.

“We are really pleased to be able to host the Stark County visit,” Stout said. “I know the governor values educations so some of the grant money we have received to help educate and develop our workforce, so it was a nice way to showcase some of the Jobs Ohio grants we receive.”

Husted got a chance to spend time with workers and he spoke about the growing economic opportunities in the state and Stark County.

“We want to grow jobs, we want to create opportunities for people. Right now, coming out of the pandemic, it is going as well in Ohio as it is in any other state in the country,” Husted said. “We are creating jobs in some cases faster than we can find people to fill them we are at record low rates of unemployment in the state of Ohio and new big announcements with business expansion.”

Husted said he and Gov. Mike DeWine will focus on accomplishments like tax cuts and balanced budgets as they continue to make campaign stops across the state.​
