Republican Congressional candidate J.R. Majewski spoke to Spectrum News before the results came in. He touted himself as a combat veteran. His campaign took a hit when the AP reported that Majewski may have not served in combat after unearthing his military records.

Majewski said that likely discouraged voters.

“Damage was already done,” he said. “Marcy Kaptur spent a lot of money promoting it through google ad space. And what I would like to know is how my records were obtained illegally in the first place.”

Majewski had a background in the nuclear energy sector, and earned the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, but that wasn’t enough to flip the seat red.

Majewski said he has full confidence in the electoral process. He said he has no reason to believe there was any cheating.
