SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — Summit County METRO Regional Transit Authority wants the community to get out and about this summer, after the COVID-19 pandemic kept most people close to home.
METRO will offer riders fare-free rides on weekends in June, July and August, the agency said in a release.
All fixed routes and ADA services will be free, including valid, pre-scheduled ADA complementary paratransit trips.
“The past two years have been challenging for many people,” said PR and Marketing Director Molly Becker. “The suspension of weekend fares allows METRO to give back to its core riders and encourages people to enjoy the many events taking place across Summit County this summer.”
Throughout the summer, the agency said it plans to highlight events all over the county that are accessible from bus routes.
Riders are encouraged to explore those events and snap photos from their excursions to post on social media, using the hash tag #StayCoolRideMETRO.
Tickets and bus passes already purchased or activated are not included, the agency said, and refunds or credits can’t be issued.
