HAMILTON, Ohio — Right outside the Westover Retirement Community is where you’ll find a cute little snowman made with lots of love and snow.
It’s bringing joy to the residents who live there.
“I really just want to spend time with my mom and making people smile,” said 10-year-old Jullian Durbrow, who built the snowman.
Durbrow and his mother, Ashley, created the snowman together.
Ashley got the idea to build the snowman a couple of weeks ago from a post in a Facebook group.
“Once we got started doing it we saw the response from the community and from people who actually had family members inside the assistant living and nursing homes and said that how their loved ones would love that,” she said.
This is their third location and the fourth snowman they’ve made.
Ashley said making these snowmen has been a great bonding experience for them.
But more importantly, it’s showing her son the importance of giving back.
“Definitely teaching him something useful as well as spreading kindness and spreading love,” she said.
This is an effort that Ashely said she hopes to continue while the snow is still around.
“We just hope that as we continue doing it that it makes people smile and makes them happy because we definitely enjoy doing it together and I actually encourage people to do it with their children,” Ashely said.
Asked what kind of reaction he hopes each resident will have after seeing the snowman outside, Jullian said: “I just hope it brings them joy and makes them smile.”
