NEW ALBANY — The central Ohio representatives for Scholar Athlete of the Week are seniors Victor Orsinelli and Madison Spiess.

Orsinelli runs cross country and track for the Eagles.

He’s won first team all-conference in the past and recently broke a personal record, posting a 16:00 run in the 5k.

Orsinelli carries a 4.28 GPA and is thinking of majoring in business and hopes to continue running in the future.

Spiess also plays two sports, tennis and golf for the Lady Eagles.

This season she’s earned first team all-league honors for her play on the golf course.

Spiess carries a 4.36 GPA and is planning on studying biology at Santa Clara University in California.

Both student athletes said time management is the key on and off the field.

“Time management skills come in to place a lot during a race and definitely patience, because as much as running is a physical sport, I would say it’s even more a mental sport,” said Orsinelli.

“I think like the concentration of coming from a game then going to homework, just being active all the time really helps,” said Spiess.
