CINCINNATI — Gyms are beginning to fill up this time of the year as people embark on their new fitness journeys. One fitness advisor shows how he is helping people stay in stick with their goals and stay in shape physically, mentally and emotionally.

What You Need To Know

  • Laurent Che said he started his fitness journey during the pandemic after realizing his health was declining during quarantine
  • In an effort to lose weight, Che began doing various exercise routines
  • He said while discipline helped, it also helped having faith
  • On Jan. 29, Che will be hosting the Tending to Your Temple faith-based fitness seminar

Laurent Che has walked to the gym every day now for the last year. The seven-minute walk is something he started doing as a way to get in a little more exercise.

“During COVID and quarantine, we didn’t really have to go out much,” said Che. “Everyone was joking about how it was all hoodies and sweats, and the moment I tried to put on my regular clothes, it was not fitting the same.”

In an effort to lose weight, Che began doing various exercise routines. Chest, arms, back and legs are his focus areas. In just seven months, he lost 50 pounds. He said it has helped him improve his body and his soul.

“Having that discipline in this area and really having that consistency, really developing a skill for keeping that promise to yourself every day spills over into everything that I do,” he said.

And now he’s taking his fitness journey and sharing it with churches across southwest Ohio. He not only credits his exercise for his weight loss but also his faith that motivated him to push through, and that’s how he came up with his new faith-based fitness program: “Tending to Your Temple.”

“It helped me realize the principles that come from the Bible that deal with discipline and consistency and grace, which is like the new start — starting over,” he said. “And that kind of helped me change my mindset.”

On Jan. 29, Che will be hosting the Tending to Your Temple faith-based fitness seminar. He will share how he lost his weight with the help of key principles and tools with a biblical perspective. He hopes it will help people change from within to ultimately help change their body and their life for the better.

“You don’t have to be some superstar. You don’t have to be some celebrity. You don’t have to be some fitness trainer,” he said. “You can be a regular person and make the transformation of someone who is that lane or in that category.”
