HAMILTON COUNTY, Ohio — There is a new scam call going around linked to jury duty for Hamilton County Court.

In a news release, the court system said the most recent scam, the caller asks for the last four digits of the person’s social security number. The Jury Commission office never asks for, collects or uses social security numbers.

Previous scammers would ask for credit card information or a pre-paid credit card after telling residents they owed a fee for missing a jury date.

The court systems will not use phone calls, emails or in-person visits to call residents in for jury duty. To be called for jury duty in Hamilton County, a person must receive a summons in the mail first.

Anyone who received a phone call, email, visit or suspicious correspondence from anyone claiming to represent court personnel, the Jury Commission Office, Sheriff’s Office or clerk of council, may verify potential jury duty obligations by calling 518-946-5879.
