NWS confirms 2 tornadoes from Wednesdays storms

Storms that moved through Ohio Wednesday afternoon produced two EF-0 tornadoes on opposite sides of the state.

The thunderstorms raced across Ohio Wednesday afternoon into the evening, producing occasional severe weather along the way.

So far, the National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes.

Clarksville tornado

Video and photos sent to the National Weather Service (NWS) show a tornado began near Clarksville in Warren County, then lifted in far western Clinton County.

The NWS office in Wilmington, along with emergency management, is surveying the damage and has rated the tornado as an EF-0. They continue to investigate the damage to trace the tornado’s path, as well as additional wind damage in Clinton County.

Those results are expected this afternoon.

Willard tornado

Another tornado formed four miles southwest of Willard. It was on the ground for eight-tenths of a mile and had a maximum width of 100 yards. It was rated EF-0 with top estimated winds of 85 mph.

The National Weather Service says it touched down at 6:11 p.m. and damaged a metal barn and garage. It lifted after two minutes.
