NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio — The North Royalton Police Department canceled an Amber Alert issued Tuesday for a 12-year-old girl.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office issued a statement, saying the suspect, Micey Stiver, and the victim, Tessa Kozelka, are in custody of the Cleveland Police Department, which aided North Royalton PD in the search.
Officials apprehended the Stiver, 23, around 10:30 p.m., who is Kozelka’s stepbrother. Stiver allegedly abducted Kozelka Monday afternoon.
Kozelka is believed to be safe, and officials didn’t disclose whether there are charges against Stiver.
Police issued the Amber Alert after Kozelka was last seen near the intersection of State Route 82 and Deer Creek Drive in North Royalton around 2 a.m. on April 4.
Police gave no other details as of Wednesday morning.
An Amber Alert is issued under the following conditions:
- Law enforcement confirms the child is under 18 years of age.
- Law enforcement believes the abduction poses a credible threat of immediate danger or serious bodily harm or death to the child.
- There is sufficient descriptive information about the child, the suspect, and/or the circumstances surrounding the abduction to believe that activation of the alert will help locate the child.
- A law enforcement agency determines the child is not a runaway and has not been abducted as a result of a family abduction, unless the investigation determines the child is in immediate danger of serious bodily harm or death.
