BOSTON — CollegeInsider.com named four collegiate men’s basketball players from Ohio to the 2021-22 Lou Henson All-America Team and finalists for the 2022 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award.

The 40 Lou Henson Award finalists include:

Sincere Carry: Kent State – Jr., Guard

Points per game: 17.9
Assists per game: 4.8
Rebounds per game: 4.5
Steals per game: 1.4

Tanner Holden: Wright State – Jr., Guard

Points per game: 20.1
Assists per game: 2.6
Rebounds per game: 7.1
Steals per game: 1.4

Ryan Rollins: Toledo – Soph., Guard

Points per game: 18.9
Assists per game: 3.6
Rebounds per game: 6
Steals per game: 1.7

Mark Sears: Ohio – Soph., Guard

Points per game: 19.6
Assists per game: 4.1
Rebounds per game: 6
Steals per game: 1.7

According to CBI, Henson was the winningest coach in University of Illinois basketball history with 423 victories. During his 21 seasons (1975-1996), Henson led the Fighting Illini to 16 postseason appearances, including 12 NCAA tournaments and a Final Four appearance in 1989.

Henson, who was also the all-time winningest coach in New Mexico State University history with 289 victories.

He also was one of 11 coaches to take two different schools to the NCAA Final Four. His teams have made 19 NCAA appearances and four NIT appearances.

Players on teams from the following conferences are eligible for the award: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast.

The award is given to the winner April 1 in New Orleans before the start of the NCAA Tournament Final Four.
