  • Wilson credits Ohio State for helping develop him into the player he is today

Olave and Wilson both met with the media Wednesday, detailing their journeys to make it to the NFL.

“Growing up watching the combine, it was always a dream of mine to come here,” Olave said. “Watching a lot of guys before me, especially at Ohio State, perform at the combine, then finally being able to be here, is definitely a blessing. I can’t put it into words.”

Wilson and Olave are rooting for each other to see who gets drafted first. Both are projected to be picked in the first round.

“I mean Garrett’s my guy,” Olave said. “There is not competition between us, we’re both happy for each other. He’s a talent, one of those natural freaks.  I can’t wait to see him perform and see those crazy numbers he’s gonna put up.”

Despite stellar collegiate careers, both receivers said they have something to prove in the 40-yard dash workout at the combine.

“I got to prove some people wrong on the 40,” Wilson said. “I’d be lying if I say that I didn’t see people were saying about what they think I’m gonna run. I’m excited to get out there and do what I do.”

Both former Buckeyes said their time at Ohio State has been essential to their development, molding them into potential first round picks in April.

“Every year, you see all the people that come out and participate in things like the combine, and you know make an impact on the next level, pretty much right away,” Wilson said. “You got to credit that to Ohio State. They do a great job of developing all of us.”

Olave and Wilson both said they plan to enjoy the process as they look to have their lifelong dreams of playing in the NFL fulfilled.

The 2022 NFL Draft starts April 28.
