BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Diocese of Brooklyn is getting a new bishop.

Pope Francis has named Columbus, Ohio, Bishop Robert Brennan to take over for Nicholas DiMarzio.

The 59-year-old Brennan was born in the Bronx and grew up on Long Island.

He formerly served as a priest and auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Rockville Center.

Brennan is set to be installed during a ceremony on November 30.

DiMarzio submitted his resignation in 2019 when he turned 75, as required by the Vatican, and his resignation was accepted by the Pope Wednesday.

He has led the Brooklyn Diocese, which covers Brooklyn and Queens, since 2003.
