High heat and humidity make things very uncomfortable for the next two days.
Record highs for Tuesday are 94 degrees in Columbus and Dayton, and 95 degrees in Cincinnati.
We could either tie or break these records. Cooler air will keep highs down into the 80s in northeast Ohio.
Records for Wednesday are 96 degrees in Columbus and Dayton, 96 degrees in Cincinnati and 97 degrees in Cleveland.
We have heat-related alerts for most of the state today and additional heat alerts will stay up for Wednesday.
Heat index values this afternoon will likely be higher than 105 degrees in many spots.
Dew points will continue to be unusually high. They will soar into the middle 70s to 80 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday making it very humid.
Yesterday, Cincinnati recorded a dew point of 80 degrees. The last time that happened it was 11 years ago on July 11, 2011. The National Weather Service in Wilmington says it’s only the seventh time on record it’s happened.
These muggy conditions make it very hard for people and pets to cool down.
Practice heat safety like never leaving kids or pets in the car, try to do outdoor activities either early in the morning or later in the evening and drink plenty of water.
