CINCINNATI – A rally to honor the AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals will take place Wednesday at Washington Park in Over-the-Rhine.
The City of Cincinnati, in coordination with 3CDC and Fifth Third Bank, will host the free at public event at 5:00 p.m. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, team owner Mike Brown and other team representatives will be in attendance, according to the city.
The 2021 AFC Champions Rally will take place on the park’s northern lawn.
“Our Bengals showcased Cincinnati’s resilience and swagger on the world stage. We are thrilled to honor this incredible run and thank them for their contributions to our great city,” wrote Mayor Aftab Pureval on social media. “Please join us tomorrow at 5 pm for a rally in Washington Park honoring the AFC Champions!”
The Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs a little more than two weeks ago to capture of the AFC title and earn their first Super Bowl appearance in 33 years. Earlier in the playoffs the team won its first playoff game in more than three decades.
Sadly, the Bengals came up just short Sunday in a bid for the franchise’s first world title, losing 23-20 to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium.
On a cold Monday night, hundreds of fans lined the streets outside of Paul Brown Stadium to cheering as the team returned from Los Angeles. Fans set up live music, started chanted and even dancing.
The team’s somewhat surprising playoff run inspired fans across Greater Cincinnati. Tens of housands were en force celebrating for each game throughout the playoffs. A new report Tuesday said Cincinnati had the highest ratings in the country for this year’s Super Bowl.
