KENNEDY SPACE CENTER — NASA was forced to scrub the uncrewed Artemis I to the moon for the second time this week, due to a separate liquid hydrogen leak.
NASA officials are meeting Saturday to determine the next step for a possible launch. Officials said earlier this week if a third attempt was needed, the next attempt would be on Monday, with a 90-minute launch window opening at 5:12 p.m. EDT. It is currently unknown if NASA plans to launch on that date and time.
All Saturday morning, NASA engineers went through several different trouble shooting methods to address a liquid hydrogen leak in a cavity in the quick disconnect where the flight side and ground side plates join.
Engineers finally recommended a “no go” on the second launch attempt of the Artemis launch, with NASA finally announcing a scrub, the second one this week.
During the first launch attempt Monday, engine-related issues and a different liquid hydrogen leak.
Today’s two-hour launch window was set to open at 2:17 p.m. EDT.
