Summit County Fair ‘It’s a Fairs Life for Me!’ week runs July 25-30 in Tallmadge

TALLMADGE, Ohio — The premier event of the Summit County Agricultural Society, the Summit County Fair starts next week.

The fair runs Tuesday, July 25 through Sunday, July 30, at the Summit County Fairgrounds, 1050 North Ave. in Tallmadge.

Offering a packed daily schedule with an array of food and vendors, the fair features everything from music, magic shows and rides to games, competitions and dancing.

As always, exhibitors will showcase livestock, poultry, canned food, baked goods, needlework, bees, vegetables, flowers, photography, beer and wine.

Special exhibits this year include the Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean, an aerial high wire thrill show, the Big Bee Transforming Robot Car and escape artist Michael Griffin.

With this year’s theme “It’s a Fairs Life for Me!,” the Summit County Fair is expected to draw people from across the region, which the fair has done since its inception in 1850.

In the early years, the fair drew such large crowds it was moved from location to location around the county, until settling in its current location in Tallmadge in 1957, fair officials said.

Fair week offers members of the Junior Fairboard and Summit County 4-H Club an opportunity to exhibit projects they’ve worked on throughout the year, such as livestock, sewing, art, STEM, outdoors, and health and living projects.

Rides run until 11 p.m. each night except Sunday, when rides run until 8 p.m. Grandstand event pricing is separate from fair admission fee.

Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased online.

Specialty days and discounts include:

  • Tuesday: Entry is free until noon and $3 for adults from noon to 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Veterans, active military members and farm bureau members get $3 admission from noon to 3 p.m.
  • Thursday: Family Day offers free admission for kids 14 and younger and $15 all-day ride pass (regularly $20)
  • Friday: Bring a boxed or canned food item and receive $3 admission until 3 p.m.

There are two main entrances to the fairgrounds: 229 East Howe Rd., and 1050 North Ave. Parking is free and handicap parking is available at both entrances. Visit the Summit County Fair website for more information.
