CLEVELAND — Sunday’s Cleveland Browns game against the Buffalo Bills won’t be in Buffalo, the National Football League confirmed Thursday. Due to ongoing weather emergencies because of the snow, the game will played at Ford Field in Detroit.

“The decision to move the game from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY was done in consultation with the Buffalo Bills and local and state authorities as the region prepares for the storm,” the NFL wrote in a statement.

Information regarding tickets will be released soon, the NFL said, whereas the Bills will provide information for those fans with tickets to the game originally scheduled for Orchard Park.

The game will be televised on CBS as part of its regularly scheduled broadcast.

A snow emergency was put in place for New York Thursday morning as the state prepares for an incoming snow storm that’s expected to dump two feet of snow in Buffalo this weekend. Several highways are also closed down as of Thursday afternoon to prepare. The storm is projected to bring wind gusts off Lake Erie as high as 35 mph, which will make travel conditions hazardous and lead to potential power outages.

The Bills had a home game moved because of a snowstorm in November 2014, when they defeated the New York Jets 38-3 in a game played at Detroit’s Ford Field. That game, originally scheduled for Sunday, was also pushed back to Monday to take into account both teams traveling.

Buffalo left for Detroit on the Friday, where the team spent the weekend practicing at the Lions facility. The Bills arranged for snowmobiles to pick up some players who were unable to dig their cars out of the snow in order to get them to the airport.
