CLEVELAND – Erica and Emma Liu can rip a serve just as fast as the older players at the Tennis in the Land Tournament.
“I’m kinda surprised. I thought my serve was slower,” Erica Liu said.

The two came to watch pro tennis players and learn how they play the game.
“Their serves are really good,” Erica Liu said.
As a 7th grader, Emma Liu is ranked second in Ohio and 82nd nationally, according to tennisrecruiting.net. She said the pros game here is a lot faster, and she’s picking up tips and skills just by watching.
“I would say the angles, the positioning on the court,” Emma Liu said. “They seem to rely a lot on power and, second of all, positioning.”
Their mother said the girls learned tennis together, and it quickly became more than just a hobby.
“After a year or two,” Catherine Liu said. “We realized, my girls, they just grow so fast.”
The girls practice by playing against each other.r.
“She will, like, tell me what I’m doing wrong,” Erica Liu said. “And tell me next time, more spin or something.”
While the girls are not planning on becoming pros, they still get to see up close how the best in world can rip a serve.
