DAYTON, Ky. — On the corner of Sixth and Vine in Dayton stands a century-old building. It was once a temple where a lodge met for decades. Eleven years ago, Scott Beseler took it over.
“People still walk by our building and they’re like what its that? Is it apartments? Is it…? Like they have no idea what it is,” Beseler said.
Beseler said the building is now referred to as The Lodge. His mission for it is to help local artists—whether it’s photographers, videographers, bands or anyone wanting to create.
“Just kind of the convenience and the openness of this place always being available for the artists and trying to foster the growing community,” he said.
That’s not all you’ll find in this building.
“Different props from photography shoots and Halloween parties just kind of end up gravitating to this place and sticking,” Beseler said.
He said the pandemic put some of the art shows and different events held inside the building to a halt—and he’s still taking precautions even now. He’s also looking to get the building on the historic registry to help keep up maintenance on the building.
