Warm temperatures and increasing clouds greeted us Saturday afternoon, with showers and a few rumbles moving in from the west.

What You Need To Know

  • Rain, heavy at times and even a severe thunderstorm possible tonight
  • Sunday: cloudy and cooler with scattered showers state-wide
  • Sunshine and milder temperatures return on Monday

As we make our way into Saturday night, the chance of severe weather moves back in, with a marginal risk of heavy rain, gusty winds and even an isolated tornado across the state.

As a powerful cold front pushes in and moves north and east, rain, heavy at times with those thunderstorms moves across Ohio in the wee hours of the morning. While a marginal risk means we’re on the “lowest step of the ladder”, we’ll still be watching for a few strong to severe storms. Expect lightning and thunder, along with pea to marble-size hail in a few spots.

Overnight, the rain moves east, and a few of us may even see some clearing skies toward Sunday morning. That clear-out is temporary though, as the area of low pressure attached to the front that lagged to the west finally moves through.

This will spark off scattered showers and sprinkles on Sunday. Skies will be cloudy, and since the front already passed through, temperatures will be much lower than they’ve been over the last few days.

After a few lingering showers Monday morning, skies will begin to clear as temperatures rebound well into the 60s to near 70.

Expect more sunshine Tuesday, before mixed skies roll into the state with cooler temperatures for the middle to end of the week. While we cannot rule out a shower or two, most areas will remain dry through at least the beginning of next weekend.

Dry Pattern Ahead After Weekend

While we will see some active weather through the weekend, sunnier days are ahead!

Take a look at our rain chances from April 16-22. After Sunday, we will get into a drier than normal period.

If it gets too dry, you might have to water!
