Tropical Depression Don will continue to meander in central Atlantic this week, where it will not impact any land areas.
Don formed on Friday, July 14, becoming the fourth named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season. Even though it was a subtropical storm at the time it was named, Don weakened on Saturday, becoming a subtropical depression.
On Monday, Don became tropical for the first time, although it’s heavy sheared and still just a tropical depression.
Otherwise, it has not changed much in strength, producing maximum sustained wind speeds up to 35 mph.
Located less than 1000 miles west of the Azores, Don will continue to take a clockwise loop over the central Atlantic Ocean this week. It is starting to curve toward the south and will head westward on Wednesday.
During that time, Don could restrengthen, becoming a tropical storm around midweek.
Regardless of future development, Don will not affect the U.S.
