Tropical Storm Bret expected to dissipate over the weekend

Tropical Storm Bret formed in the central Atlantic Ocean on June 19, becoming the second named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season.

  • Bret is will continue to weaken over the weekend

Bret maintains its tropical storm status, but continues to weaken, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

It will continue to head west, passing north of Aruba on Saturday. Although, strong wind shear and a dry atmosphere will cause Bret to dissipate over the weekend.

Regardless, it will still generate rough surf for all coastlines in the central Caribbean Sea. In addition to bringing some scattered shower and storm activity to Aruba on Saturday, its remnants will reach Central America by Monday.
