Two dead in Marietta plane crash, Ohio State Highway Patrol confirms

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed at least two people died after a plane crashed in Marietta on Tuesday morning.

OSHP said the pilot and an occupant sustained fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported from anyone on the ground, though there is damage to multiple vehicles and buildings at the dealership.

According to a news release, the crash was reported at 7:15 a.m. at the Pioneer Buick GMC dealership parking lot at 1000 Pike St., Marietta in Washington County. 

The preliminary investigation shows the plane was a 1974 Beechcraft King Air E90.

OSHP asked people to avoid the area between I-77 and Browns Road on SR 7 and said more information would be coming. SR 7 officially reopened at 9 a.m. according to the Marietta Facebook page.

Officials continue to investigate the crash.
