Voting in Cincinnati: Election Day for Ohio 2022 Primary

Voters across southwest Ohio are headed to the polls to vote in the Primary Election. 

Voters will decide who will represent them in races locally and statewide in November. 

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

Here’s a look at the major races:

Governor: Republicans will select Mike DeWine, Ron Hood, Jim Renacci or Joe Blystone. Democrats will select Nan Whaley or John Cranley. 

Secretary of State: Democrats will choose incumbent Frank LaRose or John Adams. Republican Chelsea Clark is unopposed in the primary.

Attorney General: Both candidates have uncontested primaries

Auditor of State: Both candidates have uncontested primaries.

Treasure of State: Both candidates have uncontested primaries.

U.S. Senate: Republicans will vote for Mark Pukita, Jane Timken, JD Vance, Matt Dolan, Mike Gibbons, Josh Mandel or Neil Patel. Democrats will select Morgan Harper, Traci TJ Johnson or Tim Ryan.

Congressional Primaries: Hamilton County voters in two districts will select representatives.

In District 1, Republicans will choose incumbent Steve Chabot or Jenn Giroux. Democrat Greg Landsman is unopposed in the primary.

In District 8, Republicans will choose Warren Davidson or Phil Heimlich. Democrat Vanessa Enoch runs unopposed.

State Senator: There are two State Senator races affecting Hamilton County voters

In District 7, Hamilton County voters will choose either Steve Wilson or Austin Kaiser. Democrat David Dallas is unopposed.

In District 9, both candidates have contested primaries.

State Representative:  There are seven State Representative races in Hamilton County. 

In District 24, Democrats will choose Mark Childers, Dani Iasaacsohn or Dale Mallory. Republic Adam Koehler runs unopposed.

In District 25, Republicans will choose John Breadon III or Jason Miller. Democrat Cecil Thomas runs unopposed.

In District 26, both candidates have uncontested primaries.

In District 27, Democrats will choose Rachel Baker or Gavi Begtrup. Republicans will choose Lindsay Cole, Curt Hartman or Joe Murray.

In District 28, Republicans will choose Kim Georgeton or Chris Monzel. Democrat Jessica Miranda runs unopposed.

In District 29, both candidates run unopposed.

Hamilton County Commissioner: There are two seats on the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners. Both races have uncontested primaries.

Hamilton County Clerk of Courts of Common Pleas:  Republicans Steven Goodin and Raj Rajagopal will face off in the primary. Democrat Pavan Parikh is unopposed.

Judicial primaries: Three Ohio Supreme Court Justice judicial races are uncontested primaries. The District 1 Court of Appeals race has an uncontested primary. There are seven Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas primary races, all of which are uncontested except a juvenile-division seat with full term commencing Jan. 1, 2023. Two Democrats will face off in the primary: Glenda Smith and Rickell Smith. Republican Stacey Simons is unopposed.
