COLUMBUS, Ohio — Even during one of its most challenging years in business, Watershed Distillery in Columbus is doing something special to celebrate its tenth anniversary.
The group is releasing a new product — the “Watershed Distillery Barrel Strength Bourbon” — something CEO and Founder Greg Lehman says has been years in the making.
“So, what we did, we went through the distillery and we picked out our best and oldest bourbon — it was all a little over four years old — we pulled it out and we dumped it and we filled the apple brandy barrels with that and we thought, we’re going to set it aside, there’s going to be a time where this is amazing, and we want to share it with the world,” said Lehman.
A little over a decade ago, Lehman and his business partner were tossing around business ideas and wanted to do something different.
“We loved the craft brewing and we had an honest conversation at the time because you already had a few craft breweries already here in Columbus, so we said well that’s already done, there’s no room for more breweries,” Lehman said.
Lehman says the central Ohio community has embraced them ever since.
“Columbus is great. Columbus loves Columbus and we see that support and we love supporting other business.”
And even during the coronavirus pandemic, Watershed found a way to adapt and provide for its community.
“The public needed hand sanitizer. We needed it as a community, but Watershed needed something to be excited about and something to pull us together, and to be a motivator,” said Lehman.
