OHIO — A letter from Republican Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, co-signed by 19 other attorney generals — including Ohio AG Dave Yost — threatened legal action if CVS and Walgreens sell abortion pills in those states.

The letter said such sales would violate federal law and state abortion laws. Legal analyst Rory Riley-Topping joined anchors Curtis Jackson and MaryLee Melendez to discuss the topic.

Riley-Topping said it remains to be seen how Ohioans will be affected, and that a 2004 Ohio law that contradicts current FDA guidance on the matter will need to be resolved.

Riley-Topping also noted that as the attorney general situation plays out, the 2019 “Heartbeat” law is currently blocked due to litigation, meaning that abortions up to 22 weeks are currently available in Ohio.
