Soccer may be a lot more popular in the rest of the world, but fans of the U.S. team came out to show their support and their patriotism on Friday at a watch party at Lower.com Field in Columbus.

The team, coached by former Columbus Crew FC head coach Gregg Berhalter, played England to a scoreless draw in the second round of group play.

Friday was the second U.S.-specific watch party and many fans say interest in the sport is only growing.

“I think it’s huge for the sport,” said Evan Du Pont. “Soccer has been growing in the U.S. anyway with MLS, men and women’s soccer. We’re a super young team, but hopefully we’ll come back with the same veterans.”

Lower.com Field will host 22 days of watch parties for the World Cup. The U.S. plays Iran on Tuesday in the final group stage match for both teams.
