CLEVELAND — The Young Latino Network, which is an organization that works to empower the Latino community, hosted a health fair in Cleveland Saturday afternoon.
Organizations such as the Employment Collaborative of Cuyahoga County, National Alliance on Mental Illness and MetroHealth were in attendance.
Margie Colón, the Community Outreach Liaison at MetroHealth said she was proud of the Young Latino Network for putting together this event.
“These young people are now starting to show up and show out,” she said.
People that attended were able to eat, receive free COVID-19 vaccines and listen to live music. They were also able to learn about Cleveland organizations that are available to help.
Colón said MetroHealth attends events such as these to emphasize the importance of people’s health.
“We want to make awareness in any type of event that we go to because it’s all about your health,” she said.
Colón has been a part of MetroHealth for almost 30 years and her love for the community and helping people has continued to grow.
“Metro is a hub for love. That’s what Metro really is, it’s love. Love for the community and love for the people,” she said.
The health fair is one of the many ways people have celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month around the state.
