CLEVELAND — There are more than 500 summer camps in Ohio, and when the world shut down in 2020, that left a lot of campers stuck at home.

What You Need To Know

  • Summer camps are planning to have kids back for 2021
  • Hannah Rosenfeld spent her summer at home in 2020 and is looking forward to get back to camp
  • Hannah said school is a lot of pressure, and she’s ready to take a break

Hannah Rosenfeld is in 6th grade and loves to go horseback riding and hike with her friends, but she missed out on a whole summer’s worth of memories in 2020.

“I think that final email that said camp was going to be cancelled was probably the most difficult email we received all year,” said father Ken Rosenfeld.

Instead of being able to experience nature with her friends, Hannah had to sit in her home and hangout with them over a computer screen.

“There were online events for camp like bingo night,” said Hannah, “and some things where we got to see our camp friends and counselors on Zoom which was fun.”

Now, after a long year of 6th grade and a pandemic, Hannah is ready to take a break.

“School’s a lot of pressure, and I’m just really excited to go to camp because you don’t have to think about all that,” Hannah said.

Hannah is scheduled to spend eight weeks at her camp this summer.

When asked if the two are excited for a little break from so much time together in quarantine last year, the father and daughter both exclaimed, “Yes!”
