A dip in the jet stream has allowed a much cooler airmass to settle in the last few days across Ohio and much of the Great Lakes region. While another unseasonable cool night is ahead of us into Memorial Day morning, we’re going to see a nice turnaround of temperatures, with 70s and 80s back in the forecast for the week ahead.

What You Need To Know

  • High temperatures will finally hit the 70s on Monday
  • Expect mixed skies and light winds for Memorial Day
  • We’re tracking rain and a few storms later this week

Expect clear to partly cloudy skies overnight, with temperatures in the low, middle and upper 40s. With winds shifting around from the S and SW Monday, our Memorial Day warms up quick, with highs reaching the low 70s by the end of the afternoon. It’ll remain dry, although we’ll see mixed skies throughout the afternoon.

A passing shower is possible NW on Tuesday morning, otherwise expect another partly to mostly cloudy day, with highs back in the low to middle 70s.

With a more late spring and early summer-like pattern moving in, highs will be in the 70s and 80s for the rest of the week and into next weekend. As far as precipitation is concerned, expect some unsettled weather to move in Wednesday and stay through Friday. Showers and a few thunderstorms will be likely, with the bulk of the rain moving out by early Friday.

At this point, severe weather is not likely, but we’ll of course be watching.

Beyond that, things are heating up for next weekend with highs well into the mid and even upper 80s.
