DUBLIN, Ohio — The countdown to ring in the New Year is on, but diehard Buckeyes make New Year’s Eve festivities even crazier this year since Ohio State’s College Football Playoff game against Georgia falls on the same night.

What You Need To Know

  • Ohio State’s playoff game and New Year’s Eve falls on the same night this year
  • One Ohio bar is anticipating large crowds and a non-stop night for staff
  • The bar explains how they plan to navigate the night

Due to this combination, some sports bars are anticipating large crowds.

“We’re just really excited that this big of a game is falling on New Year’s Eve like this,” said Bryce Graves, general manager of Yogi’s Bar & Grill. “It’s just going to drive up sales. We can’t be more ready for it,”

That means a non-stop night for the staff.

“We’re expecting to be busy all day long,” Graves said.

Graves said they prep nights in advance. From stocking up on food and liquor to adding extra tables, they do it all.

“We always prep extra,” Graves said. “We make sure we have enough food and bring extra tables over. We’re ready to go.”

Because of that, the bar is more than ready to ring in 2023 with the OSU playoff game.

Ohio State also played in a College Football Playoff game at 8 pm on New Year’s Eve in 2016, losing to Clemson.
