CINCINNATI — The city is once again celebrating its beloved hippo Fiona who turns 6-years-old on Tuesday.
Celebrations at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden will be more minor due to the uncertain temperatures, but businesses around the area are having different celebrations for the queen of Cincinnati.
Fiona was born six weeks premature, weighing just 29 pounds and is the smallest known hippo to survive. The zoo will be live on Facebook at 2 p.m. on Tuesday for the public to join in her cake celebration.
“It looks like it will be warm enough for the hippos to be out in the afternoon, so visitors may be able to wish her a happy birthday in person. There’s also the option to watch the birthday action on the live hippo cam that’s available to members and virtual members,” said Cincinnati Zoo director keeper Thane Maynard.
