CLEVELAND — On the first night of the NFL Draft Thursday, two Cleveland bars were cited for violating the state’s COVID-19 protocols, according to the Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU).

In a press release, the OIU said The Ivy and Dive Bar were cited with disorderly conduct. According to agents, customers weren’t social distancing and many of them weren’t wearing masks. Both bars are on West 6th Street.

The agents also said the Dive Bar had nearly 200 people inside at 8:20 p.m., while the Ivy had around 170 at 7:55 p.m., which is above capacity limits during the pandemic.

The owners will have a hearing before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission. They could be fined, or even have their licenses suspended or revoked.

“Agents conduct compliance checks to ensure the liquor permit premises are compliant with the Ohio Liquor Control Act. Agents also act on complaints of illegal activity on liquor permit premises. In addition to providing the safety checks associated with the COVID-19 directives, OIU agents continue to perform their normal compliance checks to ensure the liquor permit premises are complying with the Ohio Liquor Control Act,” the OIU wrote in a press release.
