Summer-like conditions continued on Tuesday for Ohio, with many areas close to or even at 90 degrees in the afternoon.

What You Need To Know

  • Showers and storms arrive on Wednesday
  • A few strong to severe storms likely by Wednesday afternoon
  • Tornado threat is low, but we could see damaging winds and hail
  • The start to the holiday weekend will be cooler than average

As we now approach the middle of the week, expect temperatures to drop off, with more overcast skies and a chance for showers and some thunderstorms.

With increasing clouds overnight into Wednesday morning, temperatures will bottom out in the mid to upper 60s for most areas. Expect a muggy night, with a few showers developing as we approach the daylight hours.

While showers and storms will move in along a front on Wednesday, the best chance for severe weather will be for central, east and northeastern areas. A slight risk is there for heavy rain, gusty winds and even some small hail. The tornado threat is low, but not zero, so be rest assured that we’ll be watching.

Clearing skies and a dramatic difference in temperatures are expected on Thursday, with highs in the 80s for central and southern Ohio, and highs only in the upper 60s for the north and lakeshore areas. Some wet weather returns for Thursday into Friday, although severe weather, and even the thunderstorm threat itself is low.

Looking ahead toward Memorial Day: mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with cooler high temperatures; most of Ohio will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Much cooler start to the holiday weekend

The Friday cold front will really drop temperatures down for the Memorial Day weekend.

Highs on Saturday will be in the 60s and only lower 70s on Sunday. That’s below average for this time of year.

Temperatures will slowly warm up on Memorial Day. The good news is right now most of the holiday weekend looks dry!
