CLEVELAND — Daoud Fisher-Grace has been cutting grass since the task was a part of his chores as a child. Now he does it for a living as the owner of Amazin Homes lawn care.

What You Need To Know

  • Companies like Uber, Grubhub and Instacart give customers convenience at their fingertips — now lawn care has been added to the list
  • A phone app is not only benefiting customers in the Cleveland area, but local lawn care contractors
  • There are currently about 50 contractors and 3,000 customers using the Eden App in northeast Ohio

The manual labor of lawn care and landscaping isn’t always easy, but Fisher-Grace said for him, cutting grass in Cuyahoga County has gotten more convenient since he started using the Eden App

“An order started. Real simple. You just push that play button, ready to start. Come on, let’s go get started. We’re gonna walk around, take a couple pictures, get the job started,” Fisher-Grace said.

Just as people have gotten used to ordering food, laundry service and even groceries from apps on their smart phones, people can order Fisher-Grace’s services through Eden.

He said independent lawn care contractors have had to work to keep up with bigger lawn care businesses and to adjust to technology-led customer outreach. He said using an app to connect is paying off.

“Eden App has helped me. They helped me do about 20% more than what I’ve been doing consistently. This is my second year and it’s also another 20% after last year already,” Fisher-Grace said.

Regional Operations Manager Nathan Eastlake of Eden App said there are currently about 50 contractors in northeast Ohio who are actively using Eden App and ready to take jobs.

“When a job pops up in the app and they’re in that area, they can easily grab that job and if it’s in their route, they can get out there and get it done in the same day,” Eastlake said.

There are about 3,000 active customers. Kimberly Gorski is one of them.

“It’s convenient. You don’t really have to call anybody you don’t have to talk to anybody. You get answers right away just by looking at your phone, so I think that’s what I like about it the best,” Gorski said.

Fisher-Grace said he looks forward to seeing how his business continues to grow with the help of the Eden App.

“It just took a grind, you know? I started off in the back of a Kia Soul then I upgraded, got another truck, a bigger mower. This is my third time upgrading in five years, so who knows? The sky’s the limit, “ Fisher-Grace said.

The Eden App will soon be launching in Columbus and Cincinnati.
