OHIO — The Big Ten released its 2020 fall football schedule Saturday, previewing an eight-game, conference-only schedule starting the weekend of Oct. 24.

The schedule comes after the conference reversed its stance on having a season. Nearly a month ago, the Big Ten announced there would not be a football season, citing COVID-19 concerns.

Earlier this week, board members decided to reinstate the season.

“Everyone associated with the Big Ten should be very proud of the groundbreaking steps that are now being taken to better protect the health and safety of the student-athletes and surrounding communities,” said Dr. Jim Borchers after the announcement, who is the head team physician at the Ohio State University.

Not only will all 14 teams be able to play eight regular-season games in eight weeks, they also have the opportunity to play a ninth game on Dec. 19 during the conference championship game.

For the Buckeyes, they will host the Nebraska Huskers for the first home game of the season on Oct. 24. It will be the third time Ohio State plays against Nebraska in a home opener.
