The Columbus Blue Jackets signed defenseman Gabriel Carlsson to a two-year extension through the 2021-22 season on Friday.
According to The Athletic, the pact is a two-way deal for the 2020-21 season that will pay Carlsson $700,000 while in the NHL and $100,000 if he is with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League. The 2021-22 portion of the contract is a one-way deal for $750,000.
The 23-year-old Carlsson has three NHL points (all assists) in 23 games with the Blue Jackets over the past four seasons. He played in six games this past season while going scoreless.
Carlsson was a first-round selection (29th overall) by Columbus in the 2015 NHL Draft.
