A lot of people are looking for new jobs right now, which might mean new head shots. A creative media service in Cincinnati to give them away for free. And it’ll look a little something like this.

Rooted Creative has started a movement- to keep Cincy hired. The creative agency doesn’t always do head shots, but decided to lend their talents to those that might need them right now. Michael Millay, the CEO of Rooted says he just felt like it was the right thing to do.

“We kept hearing that a lot of people had lost their jobs obviously with everything going on and a few people kept asking us, hey can we get a new headshot, update Linked In because obviously they’re on the job search now,” Millay said. “So we figured we’d just open it up and do something to serve the community here in Cincinnati.”

And so, over 70 people signed up to get a handful of free head shots. For Erik Hegerty, he’s looking for a full-time gig. He says the job search hasn’t been easy.

“Since COVID and everything it’s just been tough,” Hegerty said. “I mean Linked In I search there a lot but it’s not always the best. So it’s definitely tough.”

But he’s hopeful one of these head shots will be a difference-maker.

“It just makes you look more professional with a professional head shot,” he said.

Keeyana Avery owns her own Marketing and PR company. But she says many of her clients don’t need her services anymore. So, she thought a new head shot might help in finding some new ones.

“With everything going on right now, businesses have been getting hit hard,” Avery said. “You know, people are looking for work and get employment. So I thought it was important to get an updated head shot especially now that I’m aggressively going after new business.”

The experience even allowed for the clients to have a little fun and show their personalities. Clients are hopeful and especially grateful

“The economy is down , jobs are down,” Hegerty said. “So just giving this free service, helping the community is everything.”

“This is a great way to rally behind you community, to support your community and really do your part in making sure people are being able to take that step to get a job or apply for a job and feel confident in that,” Avery said. “So I would just say a resounding thank you.”

And Millay says he’s happy to share his time and talents to make sure Cincy stays hired.

“Keep your head up,” Millay said. “Everything is going to turn back around. This is just a season. And good or bad, seasons come to an end. So we’ll get through it.”
