CLEVELAND — City Dogs, the city of Cleveland’s animal shelter, is full and reducing the cost of adoptions in hopes of clearing the shelter this weekend, the organization said in a Facebook post.

On Saturday and Sunday, adoptions at the shelter will cost $21.

City Dogs currently has canines ages 1-10. As of Friday morning, City Dogs had 79 dogs listed for adoption.

On July 2, City Dogs said its shelter was already full heading into the Fourth of July weekend. The shelter said that the period around the Fourth of July is the busiest for lost dogs.

For dogs that get loose, the city gives owners three days to claim a lost dog. Dogs that are deemed adoptable are then held for as long as possible, the city said. Dogs that are not adoptable are “humanely euthanized,” according to the city.
