Cleveland Hopkins International Airport opens newly relocated Ground Transportation Center

CLEVELAND — After a nine-month delay, the city of Cleveland said it has completed the first phase of the Ground Transportation Center at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

The city said that the newly relocated Ground Transportation Center will improve getting to and from the airport. 

The project was slated to be completed by Thanksgiving 2020. It officially opened on Tuesday. Construction began on the project on April 1, 2020.

The airport said the new center is located at the north end of baggage claim. 

The city said the new Ground Transportation Center has the following amenities: 

 

  • A new covered waiting area to keep passengers safe from inclement weather
  • New LED light and heating system that will keep passengers warm during the colder months of the year
  • New wooden benches that are installed both in open and covered areas down each isles
  • Improved safety and efficiencies for the operators and passengers
  • Designed to be fully handicapped accessible
