CINCINNATI — Coney Island Park officials announced Thursday it won’t open on Saturday as initially planned.
Instead, the opening will be pushed back about 10 days due to a water main break.
“The leak emerged on Tuesday and since then, a team has been working to identify and rectify the issue. Unfortunately, to address the issue, Sunlite Pool had to be significantly drained and it will require time to complete the work and refill the pool,” the park said in a statement.
Guests with tickets during the time the park is closed can redeem their tickets any day it’s open.
Park officials said they’re eager to welcome guests back with its new attractions, Challenge Zone and Action Alley.
The Challenge Zone features more than 150 feet of obstacles, monkey bars, balance beans and the largest pool obstacle course in the nation, according to park officials. Action Alley will have a large infatable jump pad, arts and crafts, and a giant basketball Connect 4 game.
Last year, the park also had to delay its opening to later in the summer instead of its planned reopening date of May 29, 2020. It wasn’t because of a water main break, but instead, the state implemented the “Stay Safe Ohio” order, which encouraged residents to stay home and travel only if necessary.
Many COVID-19 protocols will still be in place. Guests must remain 6 feet away from each other at all times. The park said it will follow state guidelines on face coverings. You can read the full guidelines here.
