COLUMBUS, Ohio — This summer, families will be able to see dinosaurs, space and more at COSI, which reopens Thursday for the first time since March 2020.

The center tried to reopen in July 2020 and again in November 2020, but couldn’t, citing a spike of COVID-19 cases around that time.

“It has been a year full of challenges and opportunities emphasizing the critical importance of science and science literacy and we can’t wait to open our doors to everyone, especially the future scientists and leaders of tomorrow who will shepherd us through the next global crisis,” said Dr. Frederic Bertley, the COSI president and CEO.

It’ll be open Thursdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice.

While the state reopens by dropping most health orders, COSI said it plans to keep some COVID-19 precautions in place. Reservations are required, and due to spacing issues, some exhibits will be closed off for the time being, including:

  • National Geographic Giant Screen Theater
  • Gadgets Live Show Stage
  • Motion Simulator
  • High-Wire Unicycle
  • 3D Audio interactive in the Life Exhibition Area

The center won’t require face masks for fully vaccinated guests.

“We will continue to monitor public health guidelines and reserve the right to update this policy as health orders evolve,” according to COSI’s website.
