CINCINNATI, Ohio — Dozens gathered at Washington Park Sunday for the Prayer Protest and Lament event. Danielle Smith was one of the people who showed her support.
“I definitely have been upset about all the things that have been going on recently. And this is just one of the ways that I feel like I could do something.”
Worshiping and praying at the prayer protest is just one of the ways in which Smith is showing her support for victims who have lost their lives this year to police brutality.
“In the social-distancing COVID world, it’s kind of nice to just be out outside of the park and be able to fellowship with other people,” said Smith.
The event was put on by Mosaix Cincy Network, a group of over 40 churches across the Cincinnati-area.
“I really hope that we can all come together and work on meaningful change,” said Smith. “Just to see that we are all sort of in this together.”
Smith says she believes the power of prayer will help change the negativity in the world one day at a time.
“I think that having a peaceful protest that continues to build the momentum,” she said. “I really hope that this will lead to some real change that will last.”
