Around less than 15 minutes after a plane hit the Pentagon at 9:45 a.m., the south tower of the World Trade Center collapsed with a massive cloud of dust and smoke. Around 10:30 a.m., the North Tower collapsed.

More than 10,000 people were injured at the World Trade Center.

A total of 2,996 people died in the 9/11 attacks, which included citizens of 78 countries. Most of the people died at the World Trade Center, with a total of 2,763 lives lost. At the Pentagon, 189 people died and 44 people died in the Shansville plane crash.
