MARSHALL, Wis.— Hashtags are helping the hungry, thanks to Luke Bryan.

Bryan’s Farm Tour kicks off in Marhsall, Wisconsin on Sept. 9. The concert starts at 6 p.m. at Statz Bros. Farms. Bryan will tour through six farms in September for the twelfth time, putting a brief pause on his “Proud To Be Right Here” tour.

“I think I am more excited about this year’s Farm Tour than any other year. Growing up in a farming family in rural Georgia I know how hard farming can be even on a good year, and how hard those families work— from sun-up to sundown,” Bryan said.

Setting up for the show in Marshall, Wisconsin.

Bryan’s family in Georgia worked on a peanut farm, sparking his passion for supporting local agriculture.

Proceeds from the Farm Tour will go right back into the community. Bryan plans to take the proceeds and award college scholarships to kids from farming families that plan to head to a local college or university near one of the tour stops. Tour stops include Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio and Indiana. So far, he has given out more than 60 scholarships.

Bryan is giving back in more ways than one on this year’s tour, though.

Bryan partnered with Bayer to donate meals to those in need.

“After the challenges we have all faced in the last year with so many people losing their jobs, struggling to put food on their tables, food supply chains jeopardized, grocery stores struggling to keep food on the shelves in some areas, it is so apparent to me, and I hope everyone, why our farmers are truly the backbone of our country. They never stopped providing for all of us. Ever. It’s time to thank our farmers, once again. It’s going to mean even more to me this year,” he said.

Every time someone shares the hashtag “#HerestotheFarmer” on social media, Bayer will donate a meal through Feeding America. Bryan said his goal is to hit one million meals this year.

“I know the important role farmers play in our everyday lives and understand the hard work it takes for them to help feed America and the world,” said Bryan. “That’s why I’m excited to have this partnership… and be able to thank the American farmers for all the hard work they do.”

In a press release, Bayer explained that $1 can provide 10 meals through Feeding America. They will guarantee up to $100,000 in donations, which equates to one million meals, through the promotion. The hunger campaign runs from Aug. 16 through Nov. 30.
