MEDINA, Ohio — As Matt Amodio won his 15th episode in a row of “Jeopardy!” the Medina native gave a shout out to his former school district on Tuesday.

“When you’ve been on this long, you’re kind of running out of stuff to talk about,” Jeopardy guest host Joe Buck said, “but you want to thank your hometown school teachers in public high school.”

Amodio said he is a “proud product” of his high school and public school system in Medina.

“I loved every teacher I had and you don’t get enough thanks,” he said. “Thank you very much.”

Buck responded, “There is a place in heaven for teachers Matt.”

Buck began his guest-hosting duties earlier this week. Amodio has been a contestant for four different guest hosts — Robin Roberts, LeVar Burton, David Faber and Buck.

Amodio has represented Medina well during this three-week stint on Jeopardy. Earlier this week, Amodio jumped into fourth place on Jeopardy’s highest winnings in regular-season play. As of Tuesday’s episode, Amodio has earned $475,600. He is $56,896 behind Jason Zuffranieri for third on the list. Zuffranieri only trails Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer on the list.

With 15 wins in a row, he is sixth in the show’s history for consecutive games won.

During his run, Amodio described himself as a “history nerd.” He is currently a Ph.D. student at Yale University.
